Module Description

This module equips students with the understanding and interpretation of accounting matters required in running a business.  It also assists candidates into understanding what financial tools need to be employed when taking business decisions whilst showing different business funding options.

Entry Requirements

Students should be at least 18 years+ and in possession of a minimum MQF Level 4 Qualification (Matriculation Certificate)

AND / OR

An equivalent qualification such as MQF Level 4 in Business Management, HR Management, Facilities Management or similar.

Audience

This course is targeted at:

  1. individuals aspiring to work as a business managers
  2. individuals who wish to advance their education and gain in depth basic knowledge and skills related to business management.
  3. individuals already working in the field related to business management and would like to obtain qualification in this sector.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

    1. Interpret management accounts, financial statements and balance sheets.
    2. Be capable of taking business decisions related to financial matters.
    3. Comply with regulatory requirements.
    4. Select the adequate funding method required in running and/or growing the business.
    5. Identify immediately business financial indicators.

Comply with business regulatory compliance requirementsAt the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

  1. Read and interpret management accounts and financial statements
  2. Reporting on financial compliance matters in a timely manner.
  3. Have access to the correct funding options for business
  4. Have good Communication techniques for presenting business plans
  5. Take timely decisions of business financial matters

Assessment

This module shall be assessed by way of an assignment, not exceeding 4000 words. Learners must obtain a minimum of 50% of the total mark in order to successfully pass from the module. In the case that learners do not pass on the first try, learners can re-sit the examination. In the case of recurring failure, learners shall be asked to re-do the module.
