Module Description

This module allows learners to understand and appreciate the role that facilities management takes within organisations. Moreover, learners will also be able to understand how the structures of organisations, as well as their pre-determined culture, processes and functions affect facilities management overall.

Students should be in possession of a minimum School Leaving Certificate
AND
Be in possession of one of the following:

Grade 5 in English (Matsec Certificate)
IELTs 6.0
Or an equivalent qualification

Audience

This course is targeted at:

individuals aspiring to work as a facility and operation managers
individuals who wish to advance their education and gain in depth knowledge and skills related to facilities management.
individuals already working in the field related to facilities management and would like to obtain qualification in this sector.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

Carry out effective PESTLE analysis to assess the competitive environment within which an organisation operates
Collaborate with team members and colleagues towards achieving the overall goals and performance objectives within an organisation
Monitor trends in facilities management

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

Explain the trends within facilities management and how these are implemented within organisations
Use tools such as PESTLE to assess the external environment within which an orgaisation competes
Identify the role that facilities management plays within own organisation within which one works
Analyse the organisation within which one operates’s culture, performance objectives and goals
Identify how facilities management can be used towards achieving the abovementioned goals and objectives

Assessment

This module shall be assessed through the use of an assignment whereby learners are asked to answer a question, not exceeding 1000 words (100%). Learners must obtain a minimum of 50% of the total mark in order to successfully pass from the module. In the case that learners do not pass on the first try, learners can re-sit the assessment. In the case of recurring failure, learners shall be asked to re-do the module.
