Module Description

This module allows learners to understand the importance of implementing IT software and hardware within the field of facilities management to remain competitive and increase productivity and performance. This can be done through automation of processes, and simplification of various facilities management tasks.

Students should be in possession of a minimum School Leaving Certificate
AND
Be in possession of one of the following:

  • Grade 5 in English (Matsec Certificate)
  • IELTs 6.0
  • Or an equivalent qualification

Audience

This course is targeted at:

  • individuals aspiring to work as a managers related to facilities management
  • individuals who wish to advance their education and gain in depth knowledge and skills related to facilities management
  • individuals already working in the field related to facilities management and would like to obtain qualification in this sector. 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

  • Keep track of information and reports making use of various technological software provided by the organisation within which one operates
  • Collaborate and communicate with others making use of information technology
  • Monitor trends and challenges in information technology related to facilities management
  • Store data in a safe and secure manner making use of effective IT tools

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills: 

  • Apply the correct use of information technology according to the requirements and needs of the facilities management task
  • Use various softwares provided by the organisation to effectively implement facilities management
  • Record information on information technology to keep a safe and accessible log of information related to facilities management
  • Use IT to increase the security of the facility 
  • Overcome challenges posed in facilities management by IT such as maintenance of hardware, team co-ordination and data storage

Assessment

This module shall be assessed through the use of a multiple-choice examination whereby learners are asked to answer a number of questions by choosing the correct answer (100%). Learners must obtain a minimum of 50% of the total mark in order to successfully pass from the module. In the case that learners do not pass on the first try, learners can re-sit the examination. In the case of recurring failure, learners shall be asked to re-do the module
