Module Description

This programme allows learners to become knowledgeable in the field of project management. It allows them to understand and appreciate the links between project management and facilities management and the crucial role that project management plays within the field of facilities management..

Entry Requirements

Students should be in possession of a minimum School Leaving Certificate MQF Level 3

AND

License of real estate manager

AND/OR

Be in possession of one of the following:

(a) Secondary Education Certificate in English as issued by Matsec at grade 5 or higher.”

(b) Or IELTs 6.0

(c) Or an equivalent qualification.

Audience

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

  1. Ensure compliance with pre-determined budget and scheduled time
  2. Be responsible for the tasks provided by the project manager or project management team
  3. Monitor tasks against pre-determined budget and scheduled time
  4. Manage own time effectively and implement effective problem solving techniques

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

  1. Explain and discuss project management and the importance of having such management practices in facilities management
  2. Demonstrate understanding of the links between project management and facilities management
  3. Assess and explain the different stages in a project lifecycle including Initiation, Planning, Execution and Closing
  4. Use tools such as SWOT in effective project management tasks under supervision of superiors and management team
  5. Discuss and communicate effectively with team members to ensure a good flow of communication at all times in a project

Assessment

This module shall be assessed by way of an assignment, not exceeding 4000 words. Learners must obtain a minimum of 50% of the total mark in order to successfully pass from the module. In the case that learners do not pass on the first try, learners can re-sit the examination. In the case of recurring failure, learners shall be asked to re-do the module.
