Module Description

Outsourcing and contracting maintenance activities are trending in today’s competitive environment. Contracts are being implemented as a successfull way of managing and controlling the relationship between the service provider and the end-user. This module intends to provide an introduction to outsourcing and contracting to individuals involved in facilities, procurement or supply chain management.

Entry Requirements

Students should be at least 18 years+ and in possession of a minimum MQF Level 4 Qualification in Facilities Management or related

Level 4 – Diploma in Facilities Management

AND

Be in possession of one of the following:

(a) Grade 5 in English (Matsec Certificate)

(b) IELTs 6.0

Audience

This course is targeted at:

individuals aspiring to work as a managers related to construction, engineering or facilities
individuals who wish to advance their education and gain in depth knowledge and skills related to construction and facilities management
individuals already working in the field related to construction and facilities management and would like to obtain qualification in this sector.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

Choose rationally what activities to outsource and what activities to in-house manage
Produce powerful contract in the best interest of the organisation
Ensure that outsourced activities are fully integrated with the organisation’s strategy and operations

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

Improve knowledge of outsourcing and contracting standards and principles
Assess and evaluate all available outsourcing possibilities
Choose the correct service provider
Create and negotiate outsourcing contracts to reduce the costs of the organisation

Assessment

This module shall be taught making use of synchronous teaching methods whereby participants will be engaged in learning at the same time. A highly interactive class, where all participants will be encouraged to engage and participate, share and gain from each other’s knowledge and experience.
